Chocolate Toxicity In Dogs
Dogs love chocolate. However, because they do not have the proper enzymes to break down the components, it is a poison when ingested.
Chocolate is made from the beans of the cacao tree. Within the beans is Theobromine which is toxic to dogs. Theobromine stimulates the Central Nervous System as well as the cardiovascular system. It also increases blood pressure and causes nausea and vomiting.
Certain types of chocolate are more toxic than others. The most dangerous is unsweetened chocolate commonly used by bakers which contains eight to ten times the amount of Theobromine as milk chocolate. White chocolate contains the least Theobromine, and therefore, poisoning from white chocolate is highly unlikely.
Cat Potty Training - Train Your Cat To Use The Potty And Save The Planet!
Cat Potty Training, it’s the holy grail of cat behaviour. It’s no wonder that cat potty training is one of the most sought after skills that a cat owner seeks to gain.
Sure enough, this level of cat etiquette is worth knowing. Cat potty training is beneficial to the cat owner (and their home) in more ways than you would imagine.
Potty training your cat is not just something cat owners learn to show off to their friends and family, but a significant behavioural skill that once acquired, can not only keep your carpet clean, but your household green.
Potty Train - Helping Dogs With Manners
It could take a month or two to potty train a dog. During these times, you will know how good you are with dogs and how you can properly potty train them. But if you’re not really familiar on how to do it, here are some things you might want to do when you just had your dog in your house.
The first thing that you might want to do is to take your dog out as much as possible. This part of your potty train program is only for observation. You don’t tell them what they have to do but just bring them outside. That way, you can take note when they wanted to urinate or poop. Bring the dog outside after the dog eats and sleep.
Pet Boarding - Build Your Pet Business Online
Every time a pet owner travels they’re faced with the dilemma of how to care for their loved ones when they’re away. While some pet owners opt to bring their pets with them, others look to inexperienced friends or neighbors to care for their animals while they’re away.
What most pet owners need is a professional pet boarding service - a safe, secure and entertaining environment where they can leave their pets. Pet boarding gives pet owners peace of mind that their pets are in good hands, being fed and lovingly cared for. Statistics show that more than 30,000,000 pet owners every year make use of full-time, experienced boarding kennel operators or pet boarding service providers, a figure big enough to convince you that pet boarding is a booming business.
Feline Obesity And Your Cats Health
Feline obesity creates serious health risks for your kitty friend. Carrying extra weight around overloads all his organ systems, which can lead to pain and disability, as well as an early death. There’s nothing funny about a fat cat. And nearly half the felines in the United States are considered obese.
The most common problem associated with obesity in kitties is diabetes. If your buddy is overweight, he’s two to four times more likely to develop this serious health problem. The incidence of this disease among our furry friends has doubled since 1990. Treatment can be quite involved and very expensive, requiring a large commitment of time and money from you. Preventing this deadly disease is much easier than treating it.
Chihuahuas - The Celebrity Choice Dog
They’ve been spotted everywhere-the streets of Hollywood, the beaches of Miami, and the hotels of New York and London. Have you noticed the global spurt of celebrities’ fascination (or possibly obsession?) with Chihuahuas? At first it was thought to simply be a phase; either it’s a short, or the Chihuahuadom in Hollywood has begun for the long haul.
Who owns these dogs? The list is endless, but here are some of the celebrity biggies: Paris Hilton’s Chihuahua, Tinkerbell; Britney Spear’s Bit Bit and Lucky; Hilary’ Duff’s Lola; Scarlett Johansson’s Maggie; Sandra Bullock’s Chihuahua mix Poppy; and Demi Moore’s Yorkie-Chihuahua mix, Louie.
Dog Training - Good Boy Command
Before I begin, the ‘good boy’ name is only an example for ease of writing in this article and ‘good girl’ or any other words of praise may be used in place of ‘good boy’ throughout this article.
The good boy command is not so much a command as a general consistent learning or rewarding exercise, the aim of this exercise is to get your dog to associate ‘good boy’ with times when he has done something well and is rewarded, this will make your dog happy and glad that they have done good for you.
Reptile Cage Making Tips
These reptile cage making tips are not comprehensive by any means but they will hopefully help those of you who want to build your own snake or lizard cage.
The first, and one of the most useful tips is:
If at any time you feel frustrated or stuck, walk away and think about it for a while.
Rather than persist, I have found it is better to give yourself a break for a bit. Often the solution to the problem will come to you when you least expect it or you will be more relaxed to tackle something that have found difficult.
Anxiety In Dogs - No Laughing Matter
To some people, anxiety in dogs may sound like a ridiculous notion, after all, what would a dog have to be anxious about? Plenty, say the experts. According to veterinarians, approximately 15% of all dogs exhibit signs of separation anxiety.
Anxiety in dogs is really no laughing matter as it appears they can suffer from tension and stress just like us humans do. Unlike our canine counterparts, we are able to express our frustration through words, while dogs have to rely on other forms of expression to get their point across. Some of these forms of expression may include howling, barking, chewing your favorite shoes, urinating in the house, or other destructive behaviors that only appear when the dog is away from their owner.
Improving Cat Longevity Using Nutrition And Supplements
Over 75% of our cats and dogs have passed middle age and are entering their “golden years”.
To call a cat old, one mustn’t consider chronological age, but rather physiological condition. Biological and chronological aging are not inexorably linked. Aging begins when the body’s systems start to slow down — when cells deteriorate faster than the body can repair them.
We think of it as a progressive decline in mental and physical functioning and appearance which is accompanied by an increase in susceptibility to chronic diseases. This is caused primarily by three factors: Genetic inheritance, declining hormone levels and oxidative stress.
